READ TRAIN BEFORE GRISHAM By Jim McIntosh Arthur Train is like jazz: if you have read him and need me to describe him, maybe you should try someplace else. His was a world of law and logic. Readers are instructed about right and wrong. His descriptions of felonious deceptions show a kindly understanding of both perpetrators and victims. With plenty of suspense and uncertainty.He was a favorite of a senior partner of a prominent firm in NH. I asked this man about Grisham, Louis Auchincloss, et al."Read Tutt!" he said. "Arthur Train did it first and better." My late friend was right. Case closed.
1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. All round excellent series By Ray Wrisley This is a series of short stories all taking place around 1910 to 1920. Most involve the NYC justice system at the time and many are quite humorous. As you get to know the characters involved, it is easy to care about their fate. Those about the firm of Tutt and Tutt compare favorably with RUMPOLE OF THE BAILEY, though you may need a dictionary as some of the words are no longer in use.
