By Smitten with Reading My Review:oooh, I think this was my favorite installment of the series, but poor Seth...the poor guy makes WAY too many ER visits in this book. But this is the final installment in the series and that means that there is LOTS of action as the suspense storyline...who is bringing drugs into Solitude, OR and killing half the town (it seems)...is finally resolved. And I have to admit, I didn't see that twist coming.This book also has the resolution for the romance story line between Seth and Carly. As a married couple who have been separated the entire book, it was great to see their relationship evolve into a good place...and that did take change. Because while they've never debated that their love was still there, there were serious issues which they had to work through.Overall, this has just been a great series...especially if you are a romantic suspense fan (like me). Both authors did a great job writing their individual couples and story lines, but also integrating their stories seamlessly together. I loved the whole story, the set-up, the town and the politics within. At one point I wasn't sure that there was going to be anyone left alive to be the "bad-guy" but they pulled it off. Each installment is a pretty quick read, but never did I feel short-changed in the story line.I definitely recommend this and the three novellas that came before it. While they "could" be read separately, I definitely wouldn't recommend it. You will want to read all of them to get the whole overview of the story!I received a complimentary copy of this book in return for an honest review.

Why on earth would I give away anything? I want you to read this book. But if you have not started this series you have to start with book one!! I loved seeing Seth and Carly work together.Oh I am so happy and sad all at the same time. I am happy that the small Oregon town of Solitude (and I) finally gets some answers about the events that have been surrounding them. But I am so sad that this series is over. I really hope that this is not the only series that Melinda & Kendra will team up on.If you enjoy romance suspense you really should check out this series and the Ladies. By lep I received this book free from the Net Galley in exchange for an honest review.This the 4th and final installment for the Rogue River series, and WOW does it end with a bang. This small town becomes the center of a turf war between the manufacturers and distributors of a lethal new drug. And Carly and Seth take center stage again in this book.. I am an avid romantic suspense reader and I was surprised at the ending. And I cannot believe how well these two authors were able interweave all of these books into one. I was very lucky that I was able to read all four books together and didn't have to wait. Fortunately for other romantic suspense readers, you can do the same thing since, as of yesterday, you can do the same thing. These books are short, but they will not disappoint. There is so much action, mystery and suspense that you will only notice the length because you will want it to go on longer. The four main characters by the end of this series are so well-developed and well-known to me that I took everything personally as if they were friends of mine. I urge every romantic suspense fan to read all four of these books, and then read the other books by these fine authors.

Collins A special thank you to Montlake Romance and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.Kendra Elliott is back with HER GRAVE SECRETS, for the third installment in the Rogue River series, with a short novella filled with action, crime suspense, intrigue, mystery and romance, as readers wait anxiously for #4.The saga continues with the Taylor family in their role of the dark town of Solitude, Oregon, one which seems to be taken over by murderers and drug dealers. Local police chief, Zane and local cop, Stevie are (nice duo) working diligently to solve the cases of two murders and the link to her father’s death.A deadly street drug (C22) is found in their small town, and a skull is found on the banks of the Rogue River. Two bullet holes in the back of the skull, found by two fisherman with the rest of the skeleton possibly under the trunk of the large tree.Stevie left Oregon for a more glamorous life in LA, versus this small sleepy town. However, after her father (former police chief), Bill Taylor, passes away she returns to Solitude as a patrol officer, as she tries to heal. She was a former LAPD officer who decided the rural town was a better place to live and catch some bad guys. Her five years in LA she was left with many mental scars, and images she could never forget but she hoped over time would fade.As in most small towns you have a lot of nosy people and neighbors and everyone wants to know your business, especially those who have left and returned. They like to make up their own rules and most of the people approved of the romance between the two.Zane had spent five years on the police force, earning the trust of the town. It was like a secret club, with the primary key being you were born in Solitude, even though he had grown up on the eastern side of Oregon. He currently is working on his relationship with his father, while remodeling his cabin to make room for his love interest, Stevie.The collaboration between the two authors appear to be a success, and Stevie and Zane are a favorite couple among the series. Recommend the series to those who enjoy small towns, fast-pace, crime suspense, mystery and romance. By John Kurtze In "Her Grave Secrets" by Kendra Elliot tells the story of the actions of the Taylor family and their role in Solitude, Oregon. The town of Solitude, Oregon seems to be under siege by drug dealers, murderers, and trouble makers. Zane Duncan and Stevie Taylor are working to investigate two murders and the finding that the drug C22 was the cause of her father's death."Her Grave Secrets" continues the story of the close Taylor Family and their influence on the citizens of Solitude, Oregon. The Taylor Family issues seem to be resolving themselves. We see James and his wife working out their issues with both coming to terms that Katy O'Rourke is trying to break up their marriage. Seth Harding is acknowledging the value of his wife, Stevie's sister, Carly's social work job. We see Zane Dugan and Stevie Taylor working on police investigations together and their growing closer as their love for each other blossoms. Zane is working to remodel his cabin to make room for Stevie. We see Zane working to rekindle his relationship with his father in western Oregon.The mystery still evolves as to who is bringing the C22 drug into Solitude. When they found Roy Krueger's body he had two bullet holes in his scull. Zane and Stevie think they have another drug related murder when they find J.D. Hearne with two bullet holes in the back of his head. Crime scene investigators find clues at JD's crime scene and a C22 wrapper is found with a finger print. It looks like answers to some of the mysteries are finally bringing results.This ongoing story of the small town of Solitude, Oregon is great story of the Taylor family and their friends and spouses. Readers will enjoy this fast moving story line. The characters are well developed and believable. Readers find a great mix of mystery, murder, drug dealers, suspense, and romance involving the support characters in Solitude, Oregon. Elliot and Leigh's Rogue River Novella series has added a great look into life in small town of Oregon. "Her Graves Secrets" by Kendra Elliot is part of the Rogue River Novella series. This is a must read and earns 5 star ranking

By Kelly NUMBER OF HEARTS: 4 3/4REVIEW:Don’t you hate it when you are reading a book and you get to the end of a chapter and turn the page only to find you are at the end of the book? I kept hitting the turn page on my kindle and nothing. Nothing. There was just no more for me to read.UGGGG why do authors leave me like that? Well if you have started this series then you know that this is not the end of the story. But that Ms. Elliot & Ms. Leigh love to leave you with more questions then answers. As the body’s start piling up, the list of suspects grows longer. I am so confused as to who did it. I have a guess but I am afraid I am wrong. Can’t wait to see if I am write.Please make sure that you start this novella series from the beginning. It is an on going story. Loved seeing Zane & Stevie again. Love seeing their relationship grow. By Kathy Messano I have read all the books up to Cast Iron Cover-up and I have to say I found this book to be slow compared to the other ones. There wasn't enough of a story or action in this book to keep me from putting the book down. Normally I read a book in a day or two; this book took me several weeks to read. I was disappointed in this book because the first two books were great. Those first two books I couldn't put down.I do recommend this series and I will be buying the next book in this series.

Every chapter made me want the next one. It definitely has some twists and turns and left lots of questions for the next book. I love this series and have read it from the beginning. I didn't go to college and I just about failed high school but I could have edited and used spell check before selling this book. I am embarrassed for the author.

The main characters are two boys, survivors of a shooting that contains mysteries, many years later. Did Cal Henderson's Mom really kill most of her family? The two boys, now men, pursue the truth, amidst complications.The narrative is choppy, reads like a series of briefs, is sometimes too explanatory and not enough doing, too much telling not enough showing. The writer fleshes out the scenes with a completeness that removes the crackle of suspense. There is not a sense that the author really knows what a psychologist does, and the cliché of a beautiful secretary, carried over from detective novels, does not work here.This is a swing and a miss. The book is good enough to be average, barely, and is a first effort. Maybe the next will be better.

A good, complex mystery that is not a quick read By Si Dunn "What a swamp a single lie can lead to."Washington, D.C., psychologist Cal Henderson thinks this to himself while he is trying, years later, to sort out the real reasons behind why his two young brothers and father were shot to death, and his mother committed suicide as he watched, helpless.Cal’s friend, Scottie Glass, also was shot and badly wounded that day. But just before Cal’s mother took her own life, she saw Cal in an upstairs window and signaled him, strangely, to get down, to hide.Why had she killed four people including herself and left Cal’s friend critically injured, yet warned Cal to hide? Hide from what? Or whom?Until now, Cal has managed to keep most of these childhood horrors somewhat in check, stored far back in his mind. His psychology practice is thriving, and his clients have many issues of their own to keep his mind occupied and challenged.Then Scottie Glass suddenly shows up after many years, fiercely determined to find out who really shot him and all of the others. And the way Scottie starts confronting important people in the nation’s capitol of purchased power and influence quickly lands him–and Cal, by association–on the FBI’s radar. Cal’s job, at first, is to try to keep Scottie out of jail. But Cal soon is drawn into his friend’s dogged investigation and soon has to take the lead as Scottie keeps using his computer skills to uncover more and more links and leads that could answer Cal’s questions, too.A caution: The Survivors likely will not be a “fast read." The story is complex. But it is well written, with many characters, details, and settings. So be patient; give things time to develop. For me, the story began to click solidly into place at page 75, when FBI agent Jamie Weston tells Cal: “D.C. is a whole different universe. You think you’re playing Go Fish for this guy Scott Glass. Then you find out the game is really Poker and the man holding all the cards is some sort of senator or lobbyist you’ve never heard of.”Indeed, how a years-ago murder-suicide can have some bearing on present-day, multi-billion-dollar defense contracts is just one part of the intricate mystery that unfolds in this series-debut first novel written by Robert Palmer, a practicing Washington, D.C., lawyer and law professor.(My thanks to Seventh Street Books for providing an advance reading copy for review.)

Burian-Mohr One fine afternoon, Cal and his brothers are playing a board game with Cal's friend Scottie. That ended, they move to a game of hide and seek. While Cal counts, his brothers and Scottie go to hide. Cal looks out the window in time to his mother wave to him... and then shoot herself. Cal hides under the bed where he is eventually rescued. Her learns that his brothers, his father. and Scottie were shot, as well. Scottie is in critical condition. The others are dead.Hardly the path to a happy childhood.Cal is taken in by relatives who love and nurture him to relative health. He becomes a psychotherapist in a small, struggling office. He struggles with occasional, though devastating, blackouts. He has a kindly mentor with a goofy dog and a hot secretary. Life, in general, is okay.Then one day a new "client" shows up. It's not a new client at all; it's Scottie, healed physically, mentally somewhat unbalanced, brilliant, unpredicatble, and occasionally violent. Scottie has been doing some investigating on his own, and asks, no demands, that Cal help uncover the mystery of what really happened that horrible day, and why.And so this odd couple goes searching for answers and they manage to unearth all sorts of disturbing truths, crazed characters, scheming businessmen, the FBI, and a few others.While untangling the mystery of what really happend that day and why is compelling reading, Cal and Scottie's (and the FBI's) investigation is not. And that's where the book unraveled for me. I love a good sleuthing; this wan't it.In addition, it seemed that, if Cal was a psychologist, he would have some great psychological insights, a la Joanthan Kellerman in his Alex Delaware books. This is not the case. And with all the gunplay, you'd expect some insightful gun information. This, alas, is not the case either.For me, the best part of the book was the concept: what really happened that day, and why.The rest left me in need of some great detection. Now where did I leave that Nero Wolfe book...?
