2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Izzy Greene is at it again. By GA Belle I have read all of the books by Sylvia Selfman, but this was the best I have read. I just loved this book and the way she carried you through each chapter until we found out who murdered the bride, Claire. Each chapter became deeper and deeper.. Clair is a college roommate of Izzy Greene, the main character in each book. Four women (Izzy, Claire, Sue and Valerie) roomed together at a boarding house while they were in college. They are all at Claire's fourth (I think) marriage. So, of course, all think one of these women killed Claire because she was very disliked. Clair wanted the appearance of clouds. So, when the clouds cleared, there was Claire stabbed in the chest. There were so many times, I just knew who killed Claire. But the suspicion is primarily on Izzy throughout the book and she is on the run with her friend, Flo. If I tell you too much, it will ruin the read for you. At times, I found I put my hand over my mother because something happened that shocked me. Just read it. I know you will thoroughly enjoy it. She has another book in this series coming out soon, so I can't wait.

Enjoyed the Florida spin, Miami to Marathon and the travel views. Think Izzy & Flo really should open a detective agency! How fun will that be! Love the whole Senior Snoops concept. Ready for more, too.

By Glynn I needed some light fast reading and found these Izzy Greene books to be perfect. They kept me interested and made me smile and laugh. I loved Izzy and Flo. I found these characters to be funny, interesting and could see these characters in my everyday life. I liked the first book so much that I immediately ordered the other ones in the series. I don't think this reading would interest a teenager but someone like myself who could understand the characters and appreciate them. I will definitely order more of these books once they are written. I hope the author continues more books in this series.

It's not necessary to read the Lei Crime series to enjoy this stand alone novella but Lei Texeira figures into the story in an authentic representation.Written in first person, Hoaka Moonshine is a deeply personal account of a fifty-something woman named Dee, living near Pai'a on Maui who hears feral cats at night, is horribly disrespected by her adult son, and strikes up a friendship with a mysterious moonshine drinking man in her neighborhood. When a woman comes to Dee's door saying Dee might be her birth mother, the mystery begins.Hanan writes at a snappy pace, using many wonderful references to Hawaii and even treats us to the charm of the pidgin language. The author knows Hawaii well, with references to the laid back lifestyle of the Hawaiian natives.Hoaka Moonshine is not only a wonderful mystery but a charming account of how a solitary woman's life unfolds to include ohana. Highly recommended if you like Hawaii, Mysteries, Women's Fiction, or Hawaiian folklore.

Enjoyable mystery read By Darlene Cruz Descriptive, aww . . . . yes, the sea and the breeze but that darn high-pitched screeches two a.m. in the morning. Now I got chills running up and down my arms for real. I imagine myself on the North Shore of Oahu in a quaint house near the ocean. I like this story so much it had just enough mystery which was way out there; however I was entertained. I found myself reading page after page and I reached the end to soon. Did I get spooked? Yes and I liked it. Well the thrill of it lead me to believe one thing than "BAM" something else. Short read but the author managed to tie up all loose end real quick and left me flabbergasted. Mystic vibes radiating from this story which kept reading. I also like the local talk and giggled when I read it, I'm not going to lie, ha . ha . . . . The characters were perfect, Dee a character herself, imagine a slippah wearing lady in an oversize dress checking out the neighbor Billy with a low-slung board shorts and slippahs. There's more to the story, recalling her past life and how she ended up in her present situation hearing things like a cat meowing or could it be screeches or what in bloody hell is it? That's the mystery and here Dee will soon discover the reasons behind it and the events to its present state. Along the way Dee will have a surprise guest and I flipped out more than Dee, no for real. Wonderful writing to keep my mind engaged always guessing and ending up wrong on my part. Laurie Hanan is one of my favorite authors and I am a huge fan of her Louise Golden mysteries. There are two mysteries at work here. Why do the neighboring cats scream at night? Make that three mysteries...why does nobody else hear them? And what is going on with Billy, the strange grumpy guy next door? Uh-oh. Make that four mysteries! And what about the young woman who shows up at her door. Is she for realz?I thoroughly disliked Dee's son but unfortunately he is absolutely believable.Life isn't perfect in Hanan's Hawaii and certain phases of the moon can prove deadly.I loved discovering more about Pā‘ia, a town I have never spent much time in beyond getting gas and drinks since it's the last big town on the way to Hana. Who knew danger and darkness lurked in such a quaint piece of old Hawaii? I don't want to give too much away but I will say this. Some secrets in life need to be uncovered...and you are never too old to find romance, family and a fresh chance at happiness under a Hoaka Moon. A really beautiful, twisty mystery. Aloha!

About the Author

Born in Ixelles, Belgium, in 1949, Philippe Bouin has written many mystery novels that have been translated all over the world. Some of them feature the colorful Sister Blandine and differ from traditional mysteries thanks to their refreshing verve and exhilarating outspokenness. They’re like Georges Simenon novels but with a very slangy female Maigret who happens to be a nun.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Enjoyable and Fast Read By DOA This is a satisfyingly well-paced cozy. The pages turn quickly, the writing is fresh and fun with enough surprises to keep you focused and the story advancing seamlessly. There are no slow, draggy parts, but it's not rushed, either. The characters are all likable and made for the series format. And let's not forget the Maine Coon cat, Barney. (As someone who shares a house with a Maine Coon, I thought the author should have spent more time revealing the quirky aspects of this species, especially considering the pivotal part Barney plays in the outworking of the mystery.)I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed almost everything about the book, and even managed to overlook the wrong grammar and need for more editing. The one thing that mildly irked me was the author's habit of concealing information from the reader while everyone in the story knows what's going on. She did this all the time, in small ways to very large and important ways. For instance, her character would look out the window and see SOMETHING!!! Then she would react to the something, even think about it, all the while the reader is left dangling wondering what it was. And then it turns out to be nothing too startling. At the end, the ladies uncover whodunit--but the reader doesn't get to know for a while as they talk about it without actually telling the reader anything. It became very contrived and not suspenseful, just irritating. Also, I really couldn't get behind the tampering with evidence, even though it was necessary for the plot to work.All that said, this was a pleasurable read and I wouldn't hesitate to read another book by the author and just hope she'll get an outside editor in to help her clear up the rough spots and irksome habits.

A few hours later he has been murdered and she is now a suspect. Can Charlotte and her friends solve this murder or will she become the next victim? Give this a try.

Wilde Deception By Diana E Washington Nothing is more frustrating than misspelled/misused words, poor grammar and incomplete sentences when you're trying to read a book . Good story line, but the unedited writing leaves me not wanting to read any more of your books.

About the Author E.H. Reinhard was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He's worked in sales in one form or another for the better part of eighteen years. 5 of 5 people found the following review helpful. I have a pretty strong stomach By Obsessive Cat Disorder You know, I have a pretty strong stomach, but this challenged even my limits. I stopped reading it, so in all fairness the 'critical' review is probably not accurate. Too much. Sometimes authors go a little overboard and this one did. It made for a read that was not even enjoyable in the slightest. If I could get my money back I would. I loved Drained though and it was graphic without being disgusting. Consumed failed to make that leap.

This second book of the series was like reading the script from an old Dragnet TV show back in the 50's. "just the facts ma'me, just the facts". Too many words telling me what the Agent had for meals, how he turned the blinker on in his car to take a left or right hand turn while following his GPS instructions. The Agent's female partner, the same as book 1 in this series, could have gone on vacation for this story as her involvement in this crime investigation was minimal. I was not happy with this book and doubt that I would purchase another of this series despite the small cost.

By Jim McCarthy Jr. FBI Agents Hank Rawlings and Beth Harper are again paired up to face pure evil in, "Consumed", from author E.H. Reinhard. The second book in this series sends Rawlings/ Harper off to Tennessee for a grisly case of women being found in parts. SK-28 from the early 1980's has either garnered a copycat, or his hiatus is over. (SK- Serial Killer). Three hookers have been found all in different degrees of parts. The newest victims were scattered in and around woods of Nashville area. The original 1980's serial killer killed and cut up eight women. With the three new bodies discovered, upping the body count now to eleven. Rawlings/ Harper get very little support from local sheriff's department. Nashville's local FBI office can spare just one man. Each of the three new victims had a tattoo of a moon with stars behind one ear. The Tattoo marked the property of pimp Terrance Knightley. (Knightley-moon & stars !). Seemingly the key to these serial killings, and dismemberments trace back the family of Owen Matheson. Owen was declared dead in absentia back in 1989. Owen's wife was also declared dead in absentia in 1995. What the FBI must figure out is, whatever became of the two sons the Matheson's left behind ?. When the medical examiner detects some of the bones had been boiled, and most likely cannibalism had occurred, the case gets weirder. At a very brisk reading of about 210 pages this story was riveting. Rawlings and Harper make a pretty good team investigating. Hank's old boss Carl Kane even makes a small cameo in the story. This one has some strange twists and turns to be sure. At times the story made me cringe at details discovered. Author E. H. Reinhard has found an excellent protagonist in Hank Rawlings. Starting out in the Carl Kane series, and graduating into his own series has been pretty seamless. The dialog and characters help carry the suspense throughout. Giving the ending a lot of thought, I was surprised and relieved with conclusion. Five stars out of a possible five stars. Both series from E.H. Reinhard have been excellent reads. I've already moved onto the third Hank Rawling book in series. Enjoyable and thought provoking suspense reading. I wonder if what happens in this book really does go on ? Tough to think about.

She's Done it Again By Madeupagin When I got the email that a new Willow Rose book was out, I stopped what I was reading and went to Kindle Unlimited. Sorry, Ms. Rose, I am broke.I stayed up half the night reading. I was fascinated. How Emma finds these cases and pulls Morten in is just brilliant! The final sentence makes the book. The rest of the book is terrific, but I don't want to spoil anything. Just know the final sentence is the best ending ever!

The book skips back and forth between not only characters, but also time periods as Emma determines to solve the mysterious deaths of women in her vacation town. As we read one of the points of view of another character we are becoming more certain of the killer's identity. Then, there is a sudden change in the modus operandi of the killer. The reason for the change, as well as the killer's identity was a complete surprise at the end of the book. In my opinion, this was one of the best in the Frost series. The reader is left trying to figure it out right up until the end of the book. I literally could not put this one down until the conclusion. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

It is an authentic, inspirational life story about the struggles of a girl in the becoming and being of womanhood, through her life living with cerebral palsy and hearing and speech challenges. The book takes the reader through the day to day and aspirational life of an intelligent, beautiful person. I related deeply to this story both on a personal and professional level (as an educator). Her faith adds another deep dimension to the book.

By Kevin Perlin The Real Me takes you on a journey of courage, strength and ultimately love both on a physical, emotional and spiritual level. Heart wrenching at times, the evolution of June from her challenging childhood having to deal with partial deafness, a speech impediment and cerebral palsy to her enlightened adult life is truly inspirational. The book is filled with memoires of inspiring stories, tests of character and even moments of terror, layered with spiritual thoughts and quotes. It really gives the reader a glimpse into what makes up this courageous, gifted and vivacious woman. An easy reading book that leaves you feeling inspired. A must read!
