Few authors can write a gripping mystery and make it funny, but she does. Unique voice, great characters. A new star is on the rise. Don't miss this one.

You've got a thriller with a level of horrific reality here. You take the reader inside a perverted serial killer's head and an innocent woman whose life has been ripped from her and whose present season of recovery is being trespassed. You describe the love of an adoring niece for her mourning auntie and this connects the reader to the prologue and adds another level of emotion to this already captivating plot. What a book! I have to say 'wow' because your writing style is so picturesque. You show a every detail to plainly. I was captured right away. The showing is real and to telling, which is a top virtue in any real book. The main character Stephanie has a sassy attitude underneath all of the hurt. Her story is heart breaking and so deep I felt her agony. This is a worthy read. O.N. Stefan, this one is so chilling and well written. The villain jumps off the page at the reader and scare the bejeebers out of you. You descriptions of the lab scene in the first chapter are right on and her getting the poem was quite spooky. The conflict of the mother and Puddles was well done showing just the type of upbringing or lack of this man had. High stars! I think you have a great novel here. The prologue is intense and urged me to keep reading, as well as setting the stage for when she discovers the pictures to give a sensation of malice. Your voice is exciting and the dialogue is good. It does seem more formal at times, but that is to be expected when having highly educated characters. I especially like your detailed descriptions and the use of medical terminology.

11 of 11 people found the following review helpful. Sleep then my Princess By R3 Stephani attracts a lot of attention from several men wanting a relationship with her. There are two problems with that: she is still grieving the death of her husband... and two of those men are stalkers. One stalker is just creepy while the other one is deranged and dangerous and will stop at nothing to make his "Princess" his own.The beginning starts out a little slow while building the intensity of the stalking, but a quarter of the way through the story picks up and I didn't want to put it down. It has plenty of "Aha" and "I wasn't expecting that" moments. It's a well-thought out plot that the author weaves together quite well.

Stefan By Walden DiCaprio Carrington The element of suspense is present from the very beginning. This is an unusually creepy scenario and you convey Stephani's fear very well. It would cause anyone alarm to have a stranger send them photographs they took without consent. I can see you draw the reader of this type of fiction into the narrative very well as I could hear the characters speaking in my imagination and sense their alarm. It certainly is a page-turner as the reader is unaware of what danger is in store for Stephani and there is good reason for her to fear this unknown photographer.

By Sally Schmidt Happy Homicides is like a holiday sampler platter – every morsel is delicious, and when you are finished you want the full menu! I enjoy anthologies. The stories are shorter so I can read them on the go, and I get in-between glimpses about familiar characters from my favorite authors, as well as discovering new authors who are probably similar to ones I already like. This collection was one of the best I have read and includes stories by Joanna Campbell Slan, Neil Pakcy, Lois Winston, Annie Adams, Jenna Bennett, Nancy Jill Thames, Sara Rosett, Camille Minichino, Nancy Warren, Linda Gordon Hengerer, Joyce and Jim Lavene, and Teresa Trent.The stories are all holiday themed, but that is where the similarity ends. It’s a diverse set: we get dogs and cats and children of course, and some murder sprinkled in. We go to familiar settings like tea shops and craft stores and recipe competitions, but also take a fun trip to a trailer park. We meet sisters and aunts who are wonderful family, but there are some husbands who are not so wonderful and some scary strangers. One of the stories is very down home, while another is almost scientific, and Jane Austen makes an appearance in one story.I did have a couple of favorite stories, but I enjoyed each and every one of them, and ended up purchasing several books by new-to-me contributing authors because I enjoyed their Happy Homicide so much. It was a great way to start getting into the holiday spirit.This is a must read. It’s well written, quick to read, and very entertaining. And . . . there are recipes and crafts!I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for an unbiased review.

How great is that!Some of my favorite authors contributed to this anthology along with some new ones for me.Each story, though not a full length novel, was so well written it felt complete. That shows the talent of these authors, giving you a beginning, middle, and end, in a limited amount of words.Spend the holidays meeting new characters, falling in love, and solving some murders.Each new story brings that feeling of wonder. You are entering a new world, going on a new adventure.After I finished one story, I couldn’t resist starting the next one. And so it went until I finished them all.With weather cooling down, these stories would be great companions while curled up with a snug blanket and a hot cuppa tea.I received this book for my honest review.

Some of the titles in the listing didn't match up with the title at the beginning of the story. Each one is a stand alone book, complete and the bad guys captured. They were very simple stories and I feel they would really appeal to a very young set of readers. Especially the ones with the dogs as the heroes! There is a little flirting going on but NO sex. However, one heroine is 8 months pregnant by her fiancée, that surprised me but then maybe it did her as well. There is a gay couple, a inter-racial couple, and a mother from hell posing as a southern lady!! Course, I do know they exist because we had one in our family. She was just as bad as this mother!! On second thought, she was worse.I will just briefly review the stories that I liked best. A DIAMOND CHOKER FOR CHRISTMAS. Toni Diamond, her mother and her daughter star in this one. Her outlandish mother "borrows" an expensive necklace to wear to a Christmas part and of course, it is stolen right off her neck at the party. Toni quickly solves the crime.MENACE AT THE CHRISTMAS MARKET-Three friends are convinced that a local celebrity has been murdered but the police are not really interested because she is sending them emails from the Canary Islands. DUH, anyone can send an email. But, they keep at it until they solve this crime. There is a dog in this story as well.THE NEON ORNAMENTS-Her best friend sets her up with a local detective trying to solve a murder. The victim is a physicist and all the information is over their heads, they need a professional to help them. So, her best friend tells the single detective she can help him. They meet and she agrees to look at the information. I liked this guy. He was sweet and sexy. However, there is NO sex in the story, just very light flirting. She has an Ah Ha moment when she reads the code on the box of neon ornaments. This was rather good.DYING FOR HOLIDAY TEA-When their Nana dies she leaves her granddaughters her tea shop in South Florida. There is a big to do over gingerbread, the whole story works around that Christmas item. Another sexy detective and this time a kitten.All these stories are very short and easy to read.

About the Author Cindy Sample is a former CEO who decided plotting murder was more entertaining than plodding through paperwork. She retired to follow her lifelong dream of becoming a mystery author. Her experiences with online dating sites fueled the concept for Dying for a Date, the first in her national bestselling Laurel McKay mysteries. The sequel, Dying for a Dance, winner of the 2011 NCPA Fiction Award, is based on her adventures in the glamorous world of ballroom dancing. Laurel's (most of the time) relaxed and amusing narrative makes you feel a part of the story and more than comfortable in trailing along wherever the investigation takes her. In this case, an investigation that seems circuitous.As far as Detective Reynolds (lip curl) is concerned they have the right culprit, but Laurel has some doubts, and if she's to keep her daughter out of the line of questioning, and trouble, she'll have to nose around. It's the path of this investigation that doesn't seem to be going anywhere. Information that Laurel is uncovering points in diverse directions. Unfortunately it all seems to be muddy with nothing firmly connecting.The plots of this series are widely varied and imaginative, yet the characters stay true from book to book. Laurel has opened up to the reader by leaps and bounds from the first two books in the series. I did miss Stan's input and brand of help, though he probably would've been upstaging Gran and wanting in on the detective agency!With each book, Cindy Sample's brand of storytelling gets richer and more detailed. Changes are coming in terms of Laurel's profession and personal life. 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Dying for a Donut; Laurel McKay mysteries By Carl W Allyn A murder mystery set in my hometown - totally plausible, given the town history. An overweight heroine who looks, thinks and acts like us and is funny to boot, how could this book miss? Plus, this time around, Cindy Sample offered several possible villains so you don't know "who-done-it" until the very end. This is the latest Laurel novel from Cindy Sample who's mysteries have all been uplifting and just keep getting better. If you've read the others, don't miss this one an if you're new to this author, start from book one to dip a toe into Laurel's life and her continuing escapades.

By Heather Haven Clever, funny, intriguing, and well written, these novels meet all the requirements and then some for a light-hearted, humorous mystery. It was a long wait - not really - for this book to arrive. We Cindy Sample fans are insatiable. But when they are as delicious as the Dying For A...series, you want one a week! Hats off to Cindy Sample who never fails to deliver a top-notch mystery with a lot of laughs.

Tess and Jayson are on their honeymoon in Australia which doesn't really turn out the way they had planned it. After all, would you like to end up chained in an old metal shed on your honeymoon? Not me! This book is a quick read, and I really enjoyed getting to know a little bit about Australia through the native Australian author, whom I've learned is called an Aussie. That gave me the giggles because here in America, an Aussie is usually referring to a dog breed! No offense to the author - he's a really nice guy! So sit back, take a breather, and enjoy this wonderful breath of fresh Australian air!

By Troja70 Fans of Elicia Hyder (and boy am I after 3 straight wins!!) will not be disappointed in this novel which takes place before and leading up to The Soul Summoner but stands up on its own. Here you get an intimate look at how Nathan and Shannon get started up together and what Nathan and his family have to say about it all. This book had me laughing and feeling like one of the family as I tried to figure out the twists of robbery and murder with the lovable and hunky Nathan who is truly a star here. You'll find a bit of mystery, romance, laughter and love but not a trace of regret for missing sleep! This author is not one to watch, she's one to run to.

It tells about the Detective kind of a pre-story to The Soul Summoner. I gave it 5 stars cause the aurthor brings you into her stories and she makes me feel like I'm in her stories but without a name. I feel like I'm there but I'm not there! I've read all of her books and I'm now reading the one that just got published "The Siren"!
