By oren litmanovich After reading this autobiography, I am reminded about the metaphor about turning the past into manure. Sometimes in life we have negative experiences, as well as we make mistakes. We are then faced with two options, to sit in the sh*t, and it can stink for a long time, or we can take the sh*t and make manure from it. Taking in the experience and learning from it, then grow from it. Israel Sela, has taken the sh*t in his life, learned from it, has grown into someone who is going into the poorest of neighborhoods, and showing others that this doesn't have to be their life, that all they need to do is grow.From the start of the book he takes you on an incredible journey describing the sounds, colors, smells, painting the complete picture so that you can experience and feel what he felt, and what he chose to overcome. The book has been and inspiration to me, to keep looking forward, that even if life has knocked you down, as long you can look up and you can get up.
